Report: Bryan Gil injury update – Ndombele criticism – Parrott in hot form

In their weekly update on the out-on-loan Tottenham crop, Football.London have revealed that Tanguy Ndombele came in for plenty of criticism for his performance in Lyon’s 1-1 draw at Strasbourg on Sunday evening. 

Ndombele was the star of the show for Lyon at the London Stadium last week as he found the back of the net to help the Ligue 1 club emerge with a 1-1 draw against West Ham in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-final.

However, the midfielder was not able to build on that performance with GFFN giving the Frenchman a rating of 3/10 for his display against Strasbourg.

The publication wrote about Ndombele’s performance: “After a domineering display in midweek against West Ham in Europe, this was a weak and lacklustre outing as Sissoko and Ahoulou overran him and Aouar in the first hour. His dithering was chiefly to blame for Sissoko’s goal, who was allowed to sneak to poke home.”

Football.London reveal there is some positive news regarding Bryan Gil, who picked up an injury in Valencia’s 0-0 draw against Cadiz last Sunday.

Valencia boss Jose Bordalas was quoted as saying about the Spurs loanee: “Bryan is doing better, so let’s hope that he can be available.”

Meanwhile, Lo Celso started on the bench for Villarreal in their 1-1 draw at home to Atletic Bilbao on Saturday after his Man of the Match performance in the 1-0 win against Bayern Munich last week. The midfielder came on for Unai Emery’s side and completed 29 minutes over the weekend.

Pape Matar Sarr completed all ninety minutes in Metz’s 3-1 loss to Bordeaux on Sunday, with Football.London revealing that the midfielder had a pass success rate of 77 per cent, completing 30 of his 39 passes and making 3 interceptions.

Cameron Carter-Vickers followed up his goal in the Old Firm derby with another clean sheet over the weekend as Celtic overcame St Johnstone 7-0.

Meanwhile, Troy Parrott added another goal to his tally as he converted a volley to help MK Dons salvage a point against AFC Wimbledon.

Spurs Web Opinion

Ndombele appears to be having the same issues at Lyon as he did at Spurs. The midfielder is not able to string decent performances together and his work rate off the ball seems to be coming under scrutiny. Unless the 25-year-old shows more consistency until the end of the season, it would be difficult for Spurs to find a buyer for the Frenchman this summer.
