Report: Bundesliga club could now pounce for centre-back linked with Spurs

Foot Mercato have revealed that rumoured Tottenham target Jakub Kiwior is now in the sights of RB Leipzig.

Kiwior’s stock has risen considerably on the back of his performances for Poland at the World Cup and the Spezia star has been linked with a whole host of clubs, including Spurs, over recent weeks.

Fichajes reported towards the end of November that Tottenham were facing competition from the likes of Roma, Juventus, AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, and West Ham United for the 22-year-old.

Milan Live reported not too long after that West Ham were actually leading the race for the centre-back while CalcioMercato subsequently suggested that it was Napoli who are at the front of the queue for the player’s services.

If Foot Mercato’s latest report is to be believed, Leipzig might now push ahead with a move for Kiwior. The report states that the Bundesliga club have identified the Spezia star as a potential replacement for Josko Gvaridol, who they fear losing in January.

The French publication adds that Kiwior is valued at €25m (£22.1m) and that representatives from Chelsea also met the Poland international’s agent in Milan recently.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on recent reports and Conte’s own admission, Spurs do not appear likely to sign any centre-backs in January, with reinforcements at the back seemingly being put off until next summer. A right wing-back and another attacker seem to be at the top of the Italian’s wishlist.
