SportBild have revealed (as relayed by Sport Witness) that Bayer Leverkusen could make a move for Tottenham target Ozan Kabak this summer.

Kabak spent the second half of last season on-loan at Liverpool but the young centre-back did not make much of an impression during his short stint at Anfield.

The Merseysiders have unsurprisingly decided against taking up the £18m option to buy the player permanently from Schalke.

It was reported in the Italian press two weeks ago that Fabio Paratici wants to bring the Turkish international to North London.

German publication Der Westen then claimed last week that Schalke are ready to cash in on the centre-back, who was also said to be attracting interest from the likes of Crystal Palace, Leicester City and RB Leipzig.

SportBild have now revealed that Leverkusen may also be set to enter the race for Kabak, having identified the 21-year-old as a candidate to bolster their backline.

It is explained that the Bundesliga club are merely contemplating a move at this point and have not launched an official bid for the Schalke star.

It is also asserted that the young defender wants a hefty pay packet at his next club.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not entirely fair to judge Kabak based on his performances at Liverpool as it often takes young defenders at least a season to get accustomed to the intensity of the Premier League. Having said that, the 21-year-old would certainly not be as exciting an acquisition as some of the other names we have been linked with like Jules Kounde and Milan Skriniar.
