Report: Burnley set to be without three key players against Spurs

Burnley will be without trio James Tarkowski, Ashley Westwood and Ashley Barnes for this Sunday’s clash against Tottenham, according to the Burnley Express.

Both Tarkowski and Westwood will be unavailable for the encounter at Turf Moor through suspension after each picking up a fifth booking of the season in the 3-3 draw against Crystal Palace.

In what is arguably the biggest miss for the Clarets, Tarkowski’s unavailability comes in frustrating circumstances after collecting a caution for reacting to a Wilfried Zaha challenge on team-mate Matt Lowton.

The centre-back appeared to be trying to calm things down, but the referee had made his mind up by showing the pair a yellow card each.

Meanwhile, Burnley boss Sean Dyche has confirmed that striker Barnes will be unavailable for the visit of Spurs this weekend, with the forward still suffering from a lingering thigh injury.

Barnes has not featured for the Clarets since making a cameo in the Carabao Cup meeting ironically against Spurs at the back end of October.

Tarkowski will be a big miss for Burnley considering he is one of their best defenders. Meanwhile, Westwood is arguably Burnley’s best and most dangerous set-piece takers, so that should be a welcome boost for Spurs.
