Report: Celtic make approach for Spurs midfielder

Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are reported to have made an approach to sign Tottenham winger Jack Clarke on loan for the rest of the season (Football Insider).

The 19-year-old, who joined from Leeds United in the summer, was loaned back to Yorkshire club for the season but was recalled from his loan spell earlier this month after struggling to get game time for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Jose Mourinho confirmed recently that Spurs are looking to loan him out to a club where he is guaranteed game time in the second half of the campaign (Football.London).

Football Insider claim that several Championship clubs including QPR, Milwall, Middlesbrough, Fulham, Swansea City and Nottingham Forest are all interested in taking the pacey winger on loan.

However, it is now suggested that Celtic hope to beat those clubs to the Spurs man after selling Scott Sinclair to Preston North End last Wednesday.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Clarke is guaranteed to get game time at Celtic, I believe the quality of the Scottish Premiership is comparable to League One. So I don’t think going to Celtic will do his development much good. I would like to see him loaned to another Championship club like QPR where is likely to be involved almost every game.
