Report: Celtic may exploit clause in Postecoglou’s contract to hand blow to Spurs

Football Insider have claimed that Celtic are blocking assistant manager John Kennedy from following Ange Postecoglou to Tottenham by using a clause in the Australian’s contract.

Multiple outlets over the last few days have revealed that Postecoglou wants to offer ‘key roles’ to Celtic assistant coaches John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan at Tottenham (Daily Record).

The 57-year-old also allegedly wants to take the Scottish club’s analyst Greg Wallace to North London (Sky Sports).

The Scottish Sun claimed on Wednesday that Celtic do not wish to let Kennedy join Tottenham and are digging their heels in to stop him from leaving.

However, the publication explained that the former Celtic centre-back feels he has achieved everything he can at the club and wants to team up with Postecoglou again at Hotspur Way.

Celtic can block Postecoglou taking staff to Spurs

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, the Bhoys hierarchy have now found a way to block Kennedy from making the switch to Spurs.

It is asserted that a clause in Postecoglou’s Hoops contract stops him from taking members of the club’s staff with him to his next club.

The Glasgow giants are said to be exploiting that clause as they look to stop an exodus of their coaches to the Premier League side.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would likely not be too much of an issue for Postecoglou if Celtic block Kennedy’s switch to Spurs as the Australian has not really tended to take his staff with him when he changes clubs in his managerial career so far.

However, having said that, if Kennedy is keen on moving to Tottenham, the Celtic hierarchy would likely not be able to stop him from doing so.
