Report: Celtic plotting move to sign Spurs youngster on loan this summer

Celtic are plotting a loan move for Tottenham winger Jack Clarke this summer, according to a report in Football Insider.

Clarke has endured a disappointing season since completing a £9.5 million move to Tottenham last year. The winger barely got a look at Leeds after being loaned back to Marcelo Bielsa’s side and he hasn’t fared much better at QPR since moving in January.

The 19-year-old certainly hasn’t done enough to have a chance of breaking into the Tottenham team next season, and is expected to be loaned out again in the summer (Football.London’s Alasdair Gold).

Football Insider now claim that the teenager could be given a chance to reignite his form in Scottish football next season, with Celtic interested in taking him on a season-long loan.

The Glasgow giants reportedly tried to sign the winger on loan in January before he joined QPR. Neil Lennon’s side are still said to be keeping tabs on Clarke and could make a loan offer for him this summer.

Clarke seems extremely short of confidence at the moment and one would imagine a move to Scotland would help him regain some belief given the comparatively poorer quality of defenders he will be up against. Perhaps it would make sense to loan him to Celtic during the first half of next season and send him to a Championship club after January, once he regains a bit of form.
