Report: Celtic to rival Spurs in race for highly-rated midfielder

Tottenham reportedly hold an interest in signing West Brom youngster Rekeem Harper this summer (The Sun on Sunday, print edition, page 68, March 3, 2019).

The 19-year-old has featured 20 times in what has been his breakthrough season at the Baggies and has impressed with some of his performances.

Harper has displayed both attacking and defensive qualities and proven that he has the potential to be a top box-to-box midfielder.

The England youth international, who came through the West Brom academy, has run out his contract with the club and is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

West Brom confirmed through their official website that they have made a second and final contract offer to the young midfielder, with Harper set to make a decision over his future shorty.

The Daily Mail now reports that Celtic have also entered the race to sign the Championship midfielder this summer.

The report claims that Harper and his representatives were in attendance during Celtic’s victory against Hearts last Sunday.

Spurs Web Opinion

One reason Harper might be tempted to pick Celtic over Spurs is due to the fact that he has a more realistic chance of getting first team football next season with the Scottish giants.

Irrespective of whether the club lands Harper or not, Spurs also need to bring in experienced top-class midfield players who will be able to walk into the side, this window.
