Report: Centre-back linked with Spurs set to sign contract with £23m release clause

According to a report by German news outlet Bild, rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Evan N’Dicka is set to sign a new contract with Eintracht Frankfurt, with the deal set to include a £23m release clause.

N’Dicka’s reputation has blossomed since he moved to Frankfurt from Auxerre almost three years ago.

The 21-year-old’s solid displays at the back have been one of the reasons why the Bundesliga club currently occupy a Champions League qualification place.

Tottenham were linked with a move for the Frenchman last summer, while reports from Germany revealed the last month that Arsenal and Southampton were also eyeing the central defender.

Bild claim that Frankfurt will not stand in N’Dicka’s way if he wants to make a big move but the club are determined to ensure they get decent compensation for him.

It is said that the France Under-21 international is set to sign a two-year extension with the new clause inserted.

Spurs Web Opinion

We have been linked with a few young, up and coming centre-backs including the likes of Merih Demiral and Sven Botman. While that is consistent with the way Spurs have operated in the transfer window over the past couple of decades, I am not sure those are the profile of defenders we need at the moment.

In Tanganga and Rodon, we already have two talented young centre-backs who have the potential to become top players. What we need is an experienced campaigner who can add leadership to our backline.
