Report: Championship club are keeping an eye on experienced Spurs star

The Athletic have claimed that Leeds United are eyeing an unlikely loan move for Ben Davies this month depending on the kind of signings that Tottenham make before the end of the transfer window.

Davies has had to fill in at centre-back over the last few months in the absence of Micky van de Ven and the Welshman has delivered typically solid displays despite playing out of position.

The 29-year-old picked up a hamstring injury in Tottenham’s FA Cup win over Burnley two weeks ago and is expected to be sidelined until next month (Alasdair Gold – YouTube video).

Ben Davies emerges as shock target for Leeds

The Athletic now say that Daniel Farke’s men are keen on adding some defensive reinforcements to their squad and they have a ‘speculative eye’ on Davies.

The publication suggests that the Championship side are keeping tabs on whether the player’s situation changes depending on any more potential incomings at Spurs.

The report states that Farke values the Tottenham star’s versatility, given his ability to play at left-back as well as left-sided centre-back. However, the publication adds that a potential move to Elland Road for Davies seems ‘incredibly unlikely’ at the moment.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is no chance that Tottenham would entertain the idea of letting Ben Davies leave even if they were to bring another centre-back through the door this month (which is also unlikely to happen). This is a complete non-starter.
