Report: Championship club interested in signing 21-year-old Spurs starlet

Football Insider report that Hull City have expressed an interest in signing Tottenham starlet Marcel Lavinier after he rejected a new contract offered by the North London club.

Lavinier joined Tottenham’s development squad on a free transfer in October 2020 following his release from Chelsea.

The right-back impressed for the club’s developmental sides last season, making a total of 19 appearances in Premier League 2 over the course of 2021/22 (Transfermarkt).

However, it emerged last week that the 21-year-old had rejected a contract offered by Spurs, with his current deal running out in June 2023.

Lavinier has not featured for Tottenham’s youth sides so far this season and Football Insider claim that the defender has been omitted because of contract issues.

The new report reveals that Hull have now registered an interest in the Spurs youngster, who is thought to be eyed by other Championship clubs.

Football Insider add that Tottenham remain hopeful of extending Lavinier’s contract and sending the right-back out on loan this season.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Spurs are willing to send Lavinier out on loan so that he can play regularly, it is surprising that he has rejected the club’s contract offer. If that is the case, then Tottenham might not have much choice but to cash in on the 21-year-old as he could leave on a free transfer next summer.
