Report: Championship club offer new contract to rumoured Spurs target

If reports in the media are to be believed, Spurs are set to invest considerably in their squad this summer (Daily Mail) after two windows of complete inactivity.

Central midfield is one area where Spurs are short of options, with the club yet to replace Mousa Dembele who departed in January.

While Spurs have been linked some top midfielders from across Europe, they have also been linked with several young players as it looks like the club is looking to continue its policy of betting on young talent.

West Brom midfielder Rekeem Harper is among the players who have been linked with a move to North London (The Sun on Sunday – print edition, page 68, March 3, 2019). The 19-year-old has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough season with the Baggies, appearing 22 times in the Championship this season.

The young midfielder, who is also said to be attracting interest from recently-promoted Norwich City, has come to the end of his current contract with West Brom, and the club have now conveyed through their official website that they have made a second and final offer to the teenager after he rejected their first.

The fact that he is stalling on a contract means that he is probably waiting to see if other suitors are involved.

While adding young players is certainly important to secure the club’s future, what the team needs right now is proven world class players who will walk into the side.
