Report: Championship club tell Spurs to pay £25m for midfielder this summer

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Brentford have slapped a £25million price tag on Said Benrahma amidst interest from Tottenham.

The midfielder has set the Championship alight since his move from Nice in 2018, with his performances playing a crucial role in the Bees’ push for promotion this campaign.

Previous reports have claimed that Spurs have been tracking the Algerian international’s progress this season (Daily Star). The Daily Mirror now report that the Lilywhites are ready to enter the race for Benrahma signature.

The report asserts that Brentford have decided to cash in on the midfielder after their failure to win promotion, with Benrahma desperate to play in the top-flight next season.

West Ham United, Leeds United, and Aston Villa are also reportedly interested in the playmaker’s services.

It is claimed that Brentford are demanding £25million for their star man but that they could eventually drop their asking price down to around £16m.

Spurs Web Opinion

Spending £16m-£20m on Benrahma certainly sounds like a worthwhile gamble as the Algerian has shown his class consistently for the past couple of years. However, it is quite perplexing to see us continually being linked with attacking midfielders when there are so many other areas in the squad in which we are short of options.
