Report: Championship club will not be signing Spurs man before transfer deadline

The Northern Echo have ruled out any chance of Middlesbrough snapping up Danny Rose before the 5 pm EFL transfer deadline today.

There has been plenty of speculation about Rose over the past few months but the club were not able to move the left-back on before the European transfer deadline.

It was reported earlier in the week (Football Insider) that Middlesbrough were making an ambitious attempt to swoop for the out of favour Spurs man but Alasdair Gold expressed doubt on Thursday as to whether Rose would leave before the domestic window shut.

The Northern Echo has now definitively asserted that the 30-year-old will not be coming to the Riverside Stadium on deadline day.

The report reveals that Boro have their eyes on other targets and would not be able to afford Rose’s salary, with the Tottenham man earning more than any other player on their books.

So, it looks as though the England international may be staying at Spurs at least until the January window.
