Report: Championship youngster snubbed Spurs in 2021 – Now keen on a PL move

Football Insider have now revealed that Birmingham City starlet, Rico Browne, who snubbed a move to Tottenham Hotspur in the past, would jump at the chance to join Manchester United this summer.

Browne has been highly thought of for quite a while and the youngster is now starting to show his potential in youth football, having impressed in Premier League 2 this season.

Although he is yet to break into the Blues’ senior side, he has been made captain of their Under-21s despite having just turned 19 a few months ago.

It was  Football Insider who reported back in March of 2021 that Tottenham, West Ham and Brighton had shown an interest in Browne, who was said to be valued at around £1m at the time.

The same publication have now claimed that Spurs did make a verbal offer to the youngster in the past but he rejected their advances in favour of signing a new deal at St Andrew’s.

However, it is alleged that the centre-back is open to a move away from the Midlands club, amidst interest from Manchester United.

The Red Devils are said to have been alerted to Browne’s availability and it is asserted that the teenager would ‘jump at the chance’ to move to Old Trafford if Erik Ten Hag’s side can present him with a clear plan for his development.

If Tottenham did hold a serious interest in Browne over two years ago, then one would expect the club to test the waters again this summer, now that he is seemingly available.

However, the hierarchy at Spurs, including the academy chiefs and the recruitment department, has changed quite a bit since March 2021, and it remains to be seen if the Birmingham starlet would still be on the club’s radar.
