Report: Chelsea are leading the race to sign 24-year-old linked with Spurs

The Daily Mail have now named Chelsea as the most likely destination for rumoured Tottenham target Victor Osimhen if the striker leaves Napoli in January.

Last week, we relayed a report from Calciomercato.it, which claimed that Tottenham had identified Osimhen as an alternative to Ivan Toney.

The report stated that the Nigerian remains in ‘the sights of many top European clubs’, some of whom could make a ‘decisive assault’ on the striker in January.

It was explained that with the 24-year-old’s contract running out in 2025 and with Napoli failing to make progress in their talks over a new contract, the Italian club could put the player for sale.

The outlet asserted that the reigning Serie A champions would demand a whopping €120m (£105m) for the striker, which they alleged is ‘within reach’ for Spurs

The Mail have now talked up the chances of Osimhen leaving the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in January, suggesting that the striker could be Premier League-bound.

It is alleged that the former Lille star’s relationship with Napoli has soured and even though he rejected some advances last summer, he might decide to leave when the transfer window reopens mid-seas.

However, the outlet makes no mention of Spurs, instead naming Manchester United and Chelsea as the leading contenders for Osimhen’s signature.

The publication adds that if the striker does leave Naples, Stamford Bridge is his ‘most likely destination’.

Spurs Web Opinion

I cannot see a world in which Napoli sell Osimhen for below £100m in January (despite his contract situation) and we know that Tottenham do not operate in such price ranges.
