Report: Chelsea are willing to pay £42m for Spurs-linked Inter Milan star

According to CalcioMercato, Chelsea are set to meet with Inter Milan to discuss a potential deal for centre-back Milan Skriniar, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer.

Reports over recent days have indicated that Spurs could sign a right-sided centre-back before the window closes, with Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon both potentially on their way out of the club (Football.London).

Il Messaggero reported last week that Antonio Conte’s men were set to join Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Skriniar, who Inter were said to be ready to cash in on.

CaclioMercato have now claimed that Chelsea are about to enter the race for the Slovak after missing out on Sevilla’s Jules Kounde.

The report makes no mention of Spurs and suggests that Thomas Tuchel’s men are battling PSG for the Inter star.

It is explained that both Inter and PSG are willing to pay €50m (£41.9m) for Skriniar, which is thought to fall short of Nerazzurri’s valuation of €70m (£58.7m).

Spurs Web Opinion

I do expect Spurs to sign a right-sided centre-back if both Tanganga and Rodon leave this summer. However, I do not expect us to spend £50m-plus on a defender like Skriniar, given that we are essentially only after a backup for Cristian Romero.
