According to Sport Mediaset, Chelsea have entered the race for rumoured Tottenham target Teun Koopmeiners and are ready to spend big to secure the Atalanta star this summer.
Koopmeiners has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the last couple of years and the Dutchman is now being backed to make a step up to a bigger club in the summer.
Tottenham are one of the clubs mooted as a potential destination for the 26-year-old, with some outlets suggesting last month that the Lilywhites have already begun work on a summer deal for the player (Tuttosport via Sport Witness).
Earlier this month, Koopmeiners himself told De Telegraaf that he wants to seek a new challenge in the summer and revealed that he had communicated his intention to his club.

Sport Mediaset have now suggested that the Blues are also keen on securing Koopmeiners, having identified him as their top midfield target this summer.
It is asserted that the West London club have already reached out to Atalanta over the midfielder, who is also said to be on Juventus’ radar.

The publication adds that having scouted the Netherlands international extensively, Chelsea have said that they would be willing to pay €60m (£51.2m) for his services.

It does seem like Tottenham are prioritising a move for Ederson over his teammate Koopmeiners, with Postecoglou intent on signing a top-quality number six.
Interstingly, Chelsea’s move for Koopmeiners might actually be good news for Spurs as it would allow the Lilywhites to swoop for Conor Gallagher.
