Report: Chelsea could enter race for striker who allegedly wants Spurs move

The Standard have claimed that Chelsea could make a move for Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Guirassy’s exploits in front of goal over the last 12 months have caught the attention of several big hitters, with the striker finding the back of the net at a ridiculous rate in the Bundesliga.

The Guinea international, who is currently away at the African Cup of Nations, has a release clause of just £15m in his contract, and it has been suggested by various outlets over the last few weeks that Spurs are battling the likes of AC Milan and Manchester United for the striker’s signature (Gazzetta dello Sport).

In fact, The Sun even asserted last month that the 27-year-old’s top preference is to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the January window.

However, with Spurs having strengthened their forward line with the addition of Timo Werner, it remains to be seen if they will push ahead with a move for the Stuttgart star.

Chelsea are eyeing a move for Serhou Guirassy

If Tottenham do decide to make a move for Guirassy, they might have to contend with competition from across London, with The Standard now claiming that Chelsea have their eyes on the centre-forward.

The report explains that Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add a number nine to his squad this month and that the Blues could eye the Stuttgart star as a short-term option if deals for Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney prove out of their reach.

Even if Tottenham were seriously considering a move for Guirassy (which did not appear to be the case), they will now call off the move now that Werner has arrived through the door. Spurs may potentially revisit a deal for the Guinea international next summer if he is still at Stuttgart at the time.
