Report: Chelsea enter race for Serie A star linked with Spurs

According to a report in The Sun, Chelsea have now joined Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer.

Bremer is said to be on Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the January transfer window, with the club’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici reportedly having a ‘clear intention’ of bringing the 24-year-old to North London next month.

It was previously revealed by CalcioMeracto that Antonio Conte’s men face competition from the likes of Napoli, Inter Milan and AC Milan for Bremer, with Inter even thought to have spoken to the Brazilian’s representatives about a potential transfer.

This week, it emerged that West Ham United have also added the Torino star to their transfer wishlist ahead of the January transfer window.

If The Sun’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs now also face competition from another of their London rivals in Chelsea.

The report claims that with Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta set to become free agents in the summer, Thomas Tuchel’s men are targeting defensive reinforcements.

Bremer is said to be high on the list of potential replacements identified by the West London club.

It is claimed that scouts from Chelsea watched the 24-year-old in action against Empoli last week and were impressed with the defender’s performance.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of the various centre-backs Spurs have been linked with ahead of January, Bremer is the one that makes the most sense to me. The Brazilian would be relatively cheap and would be a natural fit for the right-centre-back position in Conte’s back three.

However, owing to his contract situation, there are likely to be plenty of clubs after the Torino star. So Spurs will need Paratici to make the most of his contacts and steal a march on the likes of West Ham and Chelsea if the North London club are to win the race for the 24-year-old.
