Report: Chelsea expected to hold ‘further talks’ with Pochettino despite Spurs fans’ wishes

The Telegraph have revealed that Chelsea have made initial contacts with Mauricio Pochettino and are expected to hold ‘further talks’ over the coming weeks.

It is clear that many Spurs fans are in favour of the idea of Pochettino completing a fairy-tale return to the club, with chants of ‘Mauricio Pochettino, he’s magic you know’ being sung by the supporters in recent matches.

However, the Argentine does not appear to be on Tottenham’s shortlist, with The Athletic reporting earlier this month that the Lilywhites have not even contacted their former boss about the possibility of coming back to the club.

The Telegraph have now revealed that Pochettino is seen as one of the ‘main contenders’ for the Chelsea job and the West London club have reached out to him already about replacing Graham Potter.

The report adds that the Blues will hold further talks with the 51-year-old and other leading candidates as they have not yet settled on a top choice for the post.

The publication also reveals that Chelsea’s co-owners, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, were impressed by Pochettino when they interviewed him last September before they hired Potter.

It will certainly not go down well with Spurs fans if the club pass up on Pochettino, only to see him take over at Chelsea.

That appears to be quite a distinct possibility at the moment since the Argentine is seemingly not on Tottenham’s narrowed-down shortlist.
