Report: Chelsea handed boost in effort to sign Spurs midfielder

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has been one of the club’s most important players in recent seasons.

The Dane has been a pivotal part of the progress Spurs have made under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the club and Eriksen’s representatives have so far failed to come to an agreement on a contract extension so far.

With the 26-year-old’s current contract running out in 18-months time, this has opened the door for potential suitors for the midfielder’s signature.

If Spurs are unsuccessful in getting the playmaker to extend his deal before the summer, they will likely be forced to sell him if they are to avoid the risk of allowing him to leave for free in the summer of 2020.

It has been reported for the past few months that Real Madrid were the front-runners for Eriksen’s signature.

However, according to a report in The Sun, Real Madrid have pulled out of the race for the Dane, opening the door for Chelsea to swoop in.

The report also claims that Manchester City are also interested in securing Eriksen’s services, but Chelsea have prioritised his signing as a likely replacement for Eden Hazard, who looks Madrid-bound.

  1. Are they not ashamed to try and buy Christian. I would not give them ANY PLAYER. They are our enemy so why should we let Christian go to them or any other team. CHRISTIAN IS NOT FOR SALE.

  2. Why don’t they sell Hazard to us. In the past they STOLE players on the final day that we were going to buy. Now I tell them to GET LOST for not to use a more harsh word that is not suitable to write here.

  3. Spurs Web? Spurs mischief making more like. Eriksen will not go to a rival in the PL. It will be abroad or nothing, although nothing may represent Eriksen’s best option of all, considering Spurs will be going all out to keep him.

  4. Welcome to the Chelsea web where money corrupts everything including the author’s brain. Do you really think that Hell is about to freeze over and Spurs will sell to anyone in the Premier League? The “report” is repeated without any critical assessment. D- Mr Bharadwaj and sit on the naughty step where you can do a thousand Lines, “I must not repeat drivel with mindless regurgitation, but develop some critical faculties”.
