Report: Chelsea have ‘earmarked’ Spurs-linked striker as a target

The Daily Mail have revealed that Chelsea remain in the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar ahead of January.

Spurs have been linked with several number nines over the last few weeks, including Brentford’s Ivan Toney (Express), Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez (Mirror), and Lille’s Jonathan Lille (TEAMtalk).

Last week, CaughtOffside claimed that the North London club were also keeping an eye on Vlahovic, who has struggled to live up to expectations since his big-money switch to Juve two years ago.

The outlet asserted that the Serbia international is not likely to sign a new contract at the Allianz Stadium but the Bianconeri are expected to demand a substantial fee for the player.

Chelsea are interested in Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic

The Mail have now claimed that Juve were prepared to allow Vlahovic to leave the club for the right fee during last summer’s transfer window and their stance has not changed.

It is explained that the Serie A giants would look to recoup the£71m they paid to Fiorentina for the player’s services.

The report adds that Chelsea had expressed an interest in the 23-year-old last summer, with Mauricio Pochettino having ‘earmarked’ the centre-forward as a target for the Blues.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite all these transfer links to various strikers, I do not think Spurs are likely to be in the market for a number nine in January. Postecoglou will probably prioritise signing a wide forward who can operate on either flank.
