Report: Chelsea in ‘advanced talks’ to sign Spurs-linked defender

ESPN claim that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Real Madrid over a deal for rumoured Tottenham target, Sergio Reguilon.

There have been contradictory reports regarding whether Spurs are in the market for a new left-back this summer.

The likes of Reguilon (ABC Sevilla), Pervis Estupinan (Sport) and Jamal Lewis (BILD) have been linked with a move to the North Londoners but there have also been reports that have suggested that Jose Mourinho is happy with his options at left-back and wants to promote Dennis Cirkin to the first-team next season to provide cover for Ben Davies ( Football.London).

The young left-back has impressed on loan at Sevilla last season and it is revealed that the Blues are ready to pay €25 million (£22.5 m) to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

The report suggests that Chelsea turned their attentions to Reguilon after finding it difficult to agree a fee with Leicester City for Ben Chilwell, while Spurs are also said to have enquired about the defender’s availability.

Reguilon is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League this summer following the interest from Frank Lampard’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

A new left-back is nowhere near as much of a priority for us as additions in some other positions are. While Davies seems to split opinion among the fan base, the Welshman’s attributes make him a perfect fit for the left-back role in the lopsided back four we currently employ. Tanganga and Sessegnon have both put in some decent performances in the position while Jose also seems to rate Cirkin quite highly.
