Report: Chelsea interested in PL manager Spurs want to replace Conte with

Football Insider have revealed that Chelsea hold a ‘genuine interest’ in Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is also thought to be on Tottenham’s radar.

It was the same publication that reported on February 15 that De Zerbi is being monitored by Spurs amidst the uncertainty over Antonio Conte’s future.

The report added that the 43-year-old’s work at the Amex Stadium had made an ‘excellent impression’ on the Lilywhites hierarchy.

The Telegraph subsequently revealed two weeks ago that the Italian has a release clause of £11.5m in his contract with the Seagulls.

If Football Insider’s latest update is to be believed, Chelsea are now eyeing De Zerbi as a potential replacement for Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge.

It is explained that although their official line is that the board are sticking by Potter, talks are already ongoing behind the scenes about when a potential change could be made.

The Blues are said to regard De Zerbi has a ‘top-level manager’ and the fact that he plays ‘eye-catching, front-foot football’  is thought to appeal to the West London club.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Chelsea having sacked Tuchel recently, there are not too many other options they can go for apart from De Zerbi and Pochettino, which might be why they are sticking with Potter for the time being.

I wonder if Levy and co will reach out to the two aforementioned candidates to discuss a potential opening in the summer just to cover themselves for the possibility that Conte does not sign a new contract.
