Report: Chelsea investigating possible racist abuse against Tottenham star

The Athletic report that Chelsea have now launched an investigation into a possible instance of racist abuse aimed at Tottenham star Son Heung-min on Sunday.

The London derby at Stamford Bridge was a high-octane affair, with plenty of drama both on and off the pitch as the spoils were shared by the two sides.

However, it now appears as though the game could be marred by a possible instance of racist abuse, with an image doing the rounds on social media showing a fan in the Shed End making an alleged racist gesture towards Son.

Following the emergence of the footage, The Athletic reveal that Chelsea have launched an investigation into the incident.

In April of last year, Manchester United suspended three season-ticket holders after Son received online abuse following Spurs’ 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils (MEN).

Given that the footage seems to quite clearly show what happened, one would not expect the investigation to take very long. It should be fairly straightforward to find the perpetrator and if found guilty, the fan in question should be hit with a lifetime stadium ban.
