Report: Chelsea keen on ambushing Spurs’ attempt to sign teenage sensation

According to a report by Football Insider, Chelsea are attempting to nab Northern Ireland teenage sensation Charlie Allen from right under Tottenham’s nose.

Great things are expected of 15-year-old Allen who is currently contracted to Linfield FC. The teenager reportedly held a successful trial with Spurs and the North London club are said to have held talks over a deal for the young forward.

However, it is claimed that Chelsea have now entered the fray for the youngster’s signature and have contacted Linfield about having the teenager on trial at their Cobham training base,

It is claimed that the Chelsea coaches want to take a closer look at Allen before attempting to push through a deal for him. The report also reveals that the teenager is attracting strong interest from Manchester City.

While Spurs were said to be in pole position for the Welsh star’s signature, interest from Chelsea and Man City have now seemingly complicated matters.

Spurs Web Opinion

Chelsea and Manchester City seem to be in the habit of stockpiling talented young footballers for no other reason than ensuring other clubs don’t get them. The worst part is neither club offers a reliable path to the first team for these young players. While the situation has obviously changed at Chelsea this season due to their transfer ban, if I was a young player, I would still pick Spurs over both Chelsea and Man City.
