Report: Chelsea make early offer to sign 22-year-old Tottenham target

Sport have revealed that Chelsea have become the first club to present an offer to Everton for rumoured Tottenham target Amadou Onana.

Onana, who has been a fixture in Everton’s midfield since his switch to Goodison Park from Lille in 2022, is thought to be of interest to several clubs, including Spurs.

Paul O’Keefe, who regularly breaks reliable information about the ongoings at Hotspur Way, revealed earlier this month that the Lilywhites are plotting a summer move for the 22-year-old.

A couple of days ago, TEAMtalk revealed that Tottenham are expected to face competition for the midfielder’s signature from both Chelsea and Barcelona.

Chelsea make offer for Amadou Onana

Sport have now shed light on Barca’s and Chelsea’s pursuit of Onana, explaining that the Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, has identified the Everton star as a target.

However, it is revealed that the Blaugrana hierarchy face an uphill battle to sign the player and that they have been put off by the Toffees’ €70m (£60.3m) asking price.

The publication adds that Premier League clubs may have the resources to meet Everton’s requests and asserts that Chelsea have already presented their opening offer to Sean Dyche’s men.

None of these recent updates about Onana’s future have mentioned Spurs as a leading contender for the player’s signature. However, we know that Postecoglou wants to add a number six to his squad and the Everton star ticks a few boxes, given his age and Premier League experience.
