Report: Chelsea man turns down chance of Tottenham move this summer

Romelu Lukaku has turned down the chance of being reunited with Antonio Conte at Tottenham this summer with the Chelsea striker keen on joining Inter Milan, according to CalcioMercato.

The Belgium international endured a tough first season back with the Blues after his club-record £97.5 million switch from Inter last summer (SkySports).

He ended with 15 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions (Transfermarkt), while he was often overlooked by manager Thomas Tuchel in the second half of the season.

Talk of a move back to Inter has resurfaced in recent weeks with Lukaku himself said to be interested in returning to the club (Gazzetta dello Sport) where he won the Serie A title in 2020-21 under current Tottenham boss Conte.

And CalcioMercato report that the Italian coach made an attempt to lure Lukaku away from Chelsea to join London rivals Spurs, although his attempt has already failed.

Lukaku reportedly rejected the chance of a reunion with Conte as he has his eyes set on leaving Chelsea to return to Inter.

The report adds a loan would be the most likely move, with the Premier League side expected to demand upwards of £17 million to take him for the season.

It is hard to see where Lukaku would fit in at Spurs with Harry Kane expected to remain at the club heading into next season.

Dealing with Chelsea is also something that very rarely happens and the likelihood of a move happening when it involves a big-money player is significantly reduced.
