Report: Chelsea now leading the race for defender allegedly wanted by Conte

According to Tuttosport (as relayed by TuttoMertactoWeb), Chelsea have now moved into pole position in the race for rumoured Tottenham target Gleison Bremer.

Bremer, who has developed into one of the most promising cental defenders in Italian football over the last few years, is alleged to be one of the players on Antonio Conte’s wishlist ahead of Janaury.

While it was initially reported that Spurs’ main competition for the Tornio defender was likely to be from Serie A, it emerged last week that Chelsea had also entered the race for the Brazilian.

The Sun revealed that with Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva and Cesar Azpilicueta set to become free agents in the summer, Thomas Tuchel’s men are targetting defensive reinforcements and had identified Bremer as a target.

Tuttosport now claim that Chelsea have emerged as the front-runners to land the 24-year-old in January.

The report reveals that Bremer has turned down a contract extension offered by Torino and now looks set to move to the Premier League.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of all the centre-backs we have been linked with over the last two months, Bremer seems like he would represent the best value for money. The Brazilian would be relatively cheap and would be a natural fit for the right-centre-back position in Conte’s back three.
