Report: Chelsea offered £33.3m player to Tottenham earlier this week

Chelsea offered Tottenham Hotspur the opportunity to sign winger Hakim Ziyech earlier this week, according to The Times.

Ziyech is keen to leave Chelsea in search of regular game time and has been linked with a move to his former club Ajax, however, the Dutch giants’ hopes of a reunion have stalled over Chelsea’s reluctance to accept a loan deal and are holding out for close to the £33.3million they paid in 2020.

Dutch news outlet AD claimed on Tuesday that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte was keen to hold talks this week over a possible move to north London.

Ziyech has fallen further down Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order following the arrival of Raheem Sterling this summer.

If Ziyech wants regular first-team football, it appears unlikely that a move to Tottenham is a viable option given the fact that he would not walk straight into Antonio Conte’s first team given the competition for places.

A return to Ajax would be the most logical option, but it appears they would only be able to stump up the money if Antony departs for Manchester United beforehand.
