Report: Chelsea on verge of deal for Tottenham-linked Brazilian

Chelsea have moved to the front of the pack to be on the verge of completing a deal Leeds United winger Raphinha, according to The Athletic.

The report claims that Chelsea are understood to be close to agreeing on a fee with Leeds and have communicated they are ready to pay a price in excess of £55 million, which is thought to be enough for the Elland Road outfit to accept.

The Brazilian was also said to be attracting interest from Tottenham (The Athletic), while north London rivals Arsenal were described at the weekend as being firm favourites to land the 25-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano has also reported this evening that Arsenal held a meeting with Leeds earlier today but saw their improved verbal bid turned down, with Chelsea now looking to wrap up the deal instead.

Tottenham’s interest appears to be firmly on Richarlison and it seems unlikely that Chelsea would now rival Spurs for the Everton player’s signature given reports that Raheem Sterling is also on their radar.

If Spurs do end up with Richarlison, there is still a need to bring in a creative midfielder to the side, who can not only score goals but also become the player to unlock a defence with a pass, rather than always rely upon Harry Kane to be the catalyst.
