Report: Chelsea player has been offered to Spurs ahead of January

90 min have claimed that Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has been offered to Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the January transfer window.

Hugo Lloris has been guilty of making several unforced errors this season and reports over recent weeks have indicated that Tottenham are already planning for life after the Frenchman (Evening Standard).

Several goalkeepers have been mooted as a target for the Lilywhites, with TEAMtalk claiming a couple of weeks ago that Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and Leeds’ Illan Meslier are on the North London club’s shortlist to take over duties from their captain at the end of the season.

90 min have now suggested that Spurs have also been given the chance to snap up Mendy from their London rivals.

The 30-year-old has lost the number one spot at Stamford Bridge to Kepa Arrizabalaga this season and the report states that the Blues are not planning on offering the goalkeeper a new contract.

Instead, it is asserted that Graham Potter’s men are ready to cash in on Mendy and have offered the Senegal international to Tottenham.

I do not think that Spurs should even consider Mendy as a potential backup option to replace Forster, let alone as their number one. The 30-year-old’s shot-stopping has left a lot to be desired and he has just as many, if not more, mistakes in him as Hugo does.
