Report: Chelsea player linked with Spurs earlier this year ‘is committed to the club’

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger at the beginning of the year.

The German international found regular first team football hard to come by under former boss Frank Lampard, having made just one appearance in Chelsea’s first 15 games in the Premier League last season but came back into favour following the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as manager (transfermarkt).

Rudiger admitted in March that he was close to leaving Stamford Bridge for Paris Saint-Germain and also revealed he had a conversation with Jose Mourinho over a potential move to Tottenham (Sky Sports).

Any hope which Spurs may have had over still luring the 28-year-old to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium appears to be over after he told Tuchel he is committed to thwclub despite a lack of contract talks (Sky Sports).

Tottenham’s interest in Rudiger could have possibly ended when Mourinho left the club. Following Daniel Levy’s decison to recruit Fabio Paratici, it is likely that the Italian will have his own list of targets.
