Report: Christian Eriksen edges closer to a surprise summer move

Tottenham Hotspur may be on the lookout for a new playmaker this summer, as Christian Eriksen made his thoughts abundantly clear in an interview earlier this month.

Eriksen told the Danish media that he was looking for a step up and a new challenge away from Tottenham for the 2019/20 season (Ekstra Bladet).

It was thought that a move to Real Madrid was most likely, but reports have since claimed that Zinedine Zidane does not want the Spurs star (Marca).

Eriksen added in the interview with Danish press that he would be willing to sign a new contract at Spurs if no big offers came in for him.

However, in the latest twist in this saga, reports have now emerged stating that Eriksen is edging closer to a surprise move to fellow Premier League club Manchester United.

Eriksen has just a year left on his contract in North London, so Spurs will likely have to either sell up for a profit, agree a new contract, or risk losing him on a free in 2020 (O Jogo – as reported by the Express).

Should Tottenham sell to United if Eriksen wants to leave and the offer is good?
