Report: Christian Eriksen ‘intrigued’ by Conte comments about Spurs return

According to Sky Sports live transfer blog (June 2, 9:51 pm), Christian Eriksen is keen to play Champions League football amidst Tottenham’s interest.

Tottenham have been credited with an interest in signing Eriksen who is available on a free transfer (90min) but the midfielder is expected to listen to Brentford’s proposal first (Fabrizio Romano on the Que Golazo Podcast).

Sky Sports have now revealed that the Bees have already offered the 30-year-old a long-term contract and are currently waiting for his reply.

It is said that the former Spurs man is settled in London and feels comfortable at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The report adds that the attacking midfielder also has a desire to play in the Champions League and has been ‘intrigued’ by Antonio Conte’s comments about potentially being welcomed back at the North London club.

These ‘comments’ are likely the ones Conte made publically when he claimed it would be a great opportunity to work with Eriksen again (Sky Sports).

Sky Sports explain, however, that Eriksen also wants to play regular football next season and knows he will get that with Thomas Frank’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am still not very optimistic that we will beat Brentford to Eriksen’s signature as I expect that Dane will want guarantees from Conte about game time. I do not think the Italian will be able to deliver such a guarantee as he has shown a reluctance to use a 3-5-2 formation at Spurs and has tended to stick to 3-4-3.
