Report: Christian Eriksen is now training with a Champions League team

Former Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen’s is now training with his former club Ajax, ahead of making a decision on his next move, De Telegraaf have revealed.

Eriksen has not been in competitive action since suffering a cardiac arrest during the European championship last summer.

The midfielder parted ways with Inter Milan last month as regulations in Italy state that players with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator fitted cannot continue playing professionally in the country (Guardian).

The Athletic reported last week that Brentford had made contact with Eriksen over signing for the club on a six-month contract.

The Times backed up Brentford’s interest in the Dane and added that the Bees are facing competition from Newcastle and Leicester for the 29-year-old.

De Telegraaf have now revealed that Eriksen is training with Ajax, where he spent five years before his move to Tottenham in the summer of 2013.

However, the report rules out the prospect of the midfielder signing for the Eredivisie giants.

It is hard to overestimate how much better Eriksen will feel to be back on the training field and to be training with other players.

Professional footballers have been used to a team environment for almost their entire lives and the Dane would have, no doubt, found it difficult to train on his own and be away from football over the last six months.

Hopefully, the 29-year-old now gets an opportunity to resume his career at the top level over the coming weeks.
