Report: Christian Eriksen left ‘convinced’ by five-year contract offer

Spanish newspaper AS are reporting that Christian Eriksen is close to reaching an agreement with Premier League rivals Manchester United.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy reportedly wants to cash in on Eriksen due to the fact that he now has under one year left on his contract in North London and the club do not want to risk him leaving for free next summer (TalkSport).

Eriksen has already stated he would like a new challenge with his comments coming just days after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool (Ekstra Bladet). His revelation about his future plans have led to him being heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Eriksen is said to have been ‘convinced’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans to restore United to their former glory and has been offered a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

AS claim that Spurs only want £60 million for Eriksen, which is significantly lower than the £100 million that they wanted in January (The Sun).

This is also lower than the £70 million which Sporting Lisbon reportedly want for his potential replacement Bruno Fernandes (O Jogo).

Spurs Web Opinion

Selling Eriksen for £60 million to a fellow Premier League club would be madness. I’d almost rather keep the player and let him walk away for free in the summer if it meant him moving abroad rather than strengthening a team in the same league as us.
