Report: Christian Eriksen reaches out to former club to use training facilities

It has been revealed that Christian Eriksen has begun training on his own at his youth club in Denmark.

Eriksen collapsed during his country’s Euro 2020 game against Finland in June and had life-saving treatment on the pitch. He later had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device – a type of pacemaker – fitted.

Despite making a full recovery, Inter Milan confirmed back in October that the former Spurs man does not meet the requirements of sporting fitness from the Italian medical authority as a result of having an ICD device fitted.

It was explained that the midfielder will thus not be able to play in Serie A but the statement went on to add that the 29-year-old could resume playing competitively in other countries which have different requirements.

The Denmark international is now said to be training on his own at Danish club Odense Boldklub, for whom he played as a youngster before joining Ajax in 2008.

A spokesperson of the Danish club told Reuters (as relayed by Sky Sports): “Eriksen reached out to us, and he is now training by himself.

“It’s natural for him since he played here in his youth and lives around the corner. We are very happy to be able to provide training facilities for him.”

The most important thing is obviously the fact that Eriksen has been able to make a full recovery. However, I do hope that he gets a chance to resume his career if he is passed fit to take to the field, even if it is back in Denmark.
