Report: Christian Eriksen’s hopes of a Spurs exit take a significant blow

Christian Eriksen has established himself as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s star players since his move from Ajax in 2013.

The Dane scored his fiftieth goal in a Spurs shirt when he netted first in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend.

Eriksen’s future at Tottenham has been the subject of intense speculation since he revealed that he saw his future away from the club (Ekstra Bladet).

While Eriksen told the Danish media that he would be open to a move to Real Madrid, the Spanish giants have not come calling.

The Mirror report that the 27-year-old’s hopes of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu have taken a significant blow after it was claimed that they will not make an approach, even if he becomes available for free next summer.

Eriksen has less than twelve months to run on his current contract in North London and will be able to agree a pre-contract deal with any interested European clubs in January prior to walking away for nothing.

Manchester United were also linked with a move for Eriksen during the summer transfer window with the BBC even claiming that talks were held before they realised that the playmaker had his heart set on a move to Spain.
