Report claims 23-year-old has signed a new contract with Tottenham

According to Sweedish publication Karlskoga Tidning-Kuriren (as relayed by Fotboll Transfers), Alfie Whiteman has signed a new contract with Tottenham Hotspur.

Whiteman, who came through the ranks of the Spurs academy, is yet to make a competitive first-team appearance for the Lilywhites.

The goalkeeper spent the first half of this season on loan at Sweedish club Degerfors, playing 13 matches for the club (Transfermarkt).

Karlskoga Tidning-Kuriren reported that Whiteman is set to return for a second loan spell at Degerfors after extending his contract with Spurs.

Tottenham confirmed this evening that the Swedish club have agreed on a loan deal for the 23-year-old to return to Sweden.

Curiously though, Whiteman’s agent, Michael Kallback, told Fotboll Direkt on Wednesday that his client is in the United States to join a club there on a loan deal and added that the situation “will be clear in the next few days.”

As things stand, Whiteman’s current deal at Spurs runs out in the summer (Transfermakrt). So now that he has been loaned back out it stands to reason that Spurs would want to extend his contract before allowing him to leave.
