Report claims 27-year-old linked with Spurs ‘is about to move to La Liga’

Sky Germany have revealed that Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham this summer, is on his way to La Liga.

Ginter started in every one of Gladbach’s 46 fixtures across all competitions last season and the defender was one of the few bright sparks in Germany’s disappointing European Championship campaign.

Bild reported back in May that Spurs had made an opening offer for the 27-year-old, who is now into the final 12 months of his contract at Borussia Park.

However, the speculation linking the North Londoners with a move for the German has since dried up and it has become clear over recent days that Fabio Paratici is going after the likes of Atalanta’s Cristian Romero instead.

If Sky Germany’s latest update is to be believed, Ginter is set to move to Spain, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all showing interest in the defender.

The report explains that Gladbach have to cash in on the German international due to his contract situation and backs the player to join one of the three La Liga giants.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not have been surprised if Spurs had made a move for Ginter given his profile and contract situation. However, if the latest rumours are to be believed, Paratici seems to be aiming higher.

The likes of Jules Kounde and Cristian Romero (who now seems to be Paratici’s number one target) are arguably a cut above the German and way more expensive. It seems to be Real Madrid and Barcelona who are shopping for scraps due to their financial issues.
