Report claims 51-year-old is not interest in taking over at Tottenham

According to FC Inter News, Antonio Conte has not had his head turned by Tottenham Hotspur’s interest and would prefer to continue his project at Inter Milan.

Conte, who has guided Inter Milan to their first Scudetto in over a decade, is rumoured to be on Tottenham’s radar, with The Express claiming that the North London club have already sounded out the former Chelsea boss.

Sources from Italy have suggested that the 51-year-old could be forced to resign from Inter due to the club’s dire financial situation as the hierarchy plan on asking playing staff and coaching staff to take substantial salary cuts.

However, FC Inter News now reveal that Conte’s desire remains to continue at the San Siro. It is explained that the Italian will have a meeting with club owner Steven Zhang to discuss the plans for next season.

Conte is said to be aware that he cannot make too many transfer demands given the club’s financial situation and will be happy enough if he is promised that the Serie A champions will hold on to key players.

The report completely dismisses the speculation linking the Inter boss with a move to Spurs, stating plainly that ‘nothing could be further from reality’.

It is clear that our chances of getting Conte are extremely slim but I suspect Levy will wait to see how talks between the former Chelsea boss and Inter’s hierarchy unfold. That could be part of the reason why the Spurs chairman is not in a hurry to make an appointment.
