Report claims a United – Spurs defender swap deal could be possible

Tottenham Hotspur have a number of players in the final years of their contracts this season.

The likes of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Fernando Llorente, and Michel Vorm all have deals expiring in the summer.

Alderweireld was linked with United throughout the last transfer window (Mirror), and shows no signs of agreeing a new deal at Spurs.

A clause in his current contract allows Tottenham to extend the deal for an extra year, but this will make him available for just £25m in the summer should he want to leave.

Manchester United have their own centre back troubles, with Eric Bailly also being linked with a move away (Daily Mail) after he has seemingly fallen out of favour with Mourinho.

Playing For 90 have claimed that a swap deal for the two centre backs could be on the cards.

It isn’t clear whether this would happen in January or some summer time.

Would this be a good deal, considering Toby may leave for £25m anyway?
