Report claims Antonio Conte is still ‘tempted’ by Spurs job

The print edition of Corriere Dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness) has claimed that Antonio Conte might still be tempted to take the Tottenham job.

Reports over the last couple of days have indicated that Spurs have called off their talks with Conte.

It has been alleged that the Italian’s transfer demands were seen as unrealistic by Daniel Levy, who was concerned that the club’s long-term financial health might be at risk if they are fulfilled.

However, Corriere Dello Sport now suggest that while talks between the two parties have cooled, there is still a chance that Conte could join Spurs.

The report explains that Fabio Paratici is ‘one step away’ from joining as Tottenham’s Director of Football and that the former Juventus man is hopeful of bringing Conte to the club.

It is explained that ‘a little more patience’ is needed for the two parties to come together.

Although Conte is said to be ‘tempted’ by a return to the Premier League, the former Inter boss is said to be looking for more ‘guarantees’ from a ‘technical aspect’.

If there is truth to this report, then perhaps Levy’s decision to step away from the negotiating table was a tactic to get Conte to lower some of his demands.

Even if rumours start emerging again that a move for Conte is back on, Spurs fans should not get too excited until there is an official update if they do not want to be burned like the first time.
