Report claims COVID ruined player’s chance for Spurs or Arsenal move

Kicker have reported that the COVID-19 pandemic ruined Hoffenheim star, Florian Grillitsch’s chances of moving to Arsenal or Tottenham.

The defensive midfielder played 34 games for Hoffenheim across all competitions last season, even chipping in with four goals and two assists (TransferMarkt).

The 25-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract with the Bundesliga club, with Grillitsch able to showcase his talents for Austria in Euro 2020 this summer.

Back in 2020, BILD reported that Tottenham, Southampton, Newcastle and Arsenal were all keeping an eye on Grillitsch.

However, with that report coming in February, things drastically changed when the world was plunged into a pandemic in the coming months.

While Kicker have reported that COVID-19 may have ruined a potential move to either side of North London, Hoffenheim will soon have to decide whether to sell up, get Grillitsch to sign a new contract or let him leave on a free.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Everything is going to depend on sales this summer. With Skipp coming back, Hojbjerg, Winks, and Sissoko, Spurs do not need another holding mid at the moment, although they could do with more quality. If Winks and Sissoko are sold, someone like Grillitsch could come in.
