Report claims defender has told club not to stand in the way of a Tottenham transfer

Christian Romero has told Atalanta that he wants to move to Tottenham Hotspur and would like the transfer wrapped up as soon as possible, according to 90min.

The report claims that the 23-year-old has already agreed to personal terms with Spurs and has made it clear that he does not want them to stand in his way, such is his desire to join the Premier League side.

Yesterday, Tottenham confirmed the departure of Toby Alderweireld who ended his six-year stint in North London after completing his switch to Qatari outfit Al-Duhail.

Football.London revealed earlier this month that Spurs were in advanced talks with the Serie A club.

A source told 90min: “This is a big move and a big opportunity, and personal terms have already been agreed. Romero wants to move to Tottenham and has told Atalanta as much. He does not want them to stand in his way,”

Alderweireld’s departure has freed up a space within the central defensive ranks, however, fans are continuing to wait to see if Tottenham will be able to reach an agreement with Atlanta.

We have witnessed many ‘nearly’ signings in the past, and hopefully, we do not file this one in the same folder as Paulo Dybala.
