Report claims European giants need Tottenham’s help to sign Erling Haaland

According to a report by Diario AS (as relayed by The Express), Real Madrid are hoping that Tottenham Hotspur will move for Gareth Bale in the summer to allow them to raise the funds to seal a deal for Erling Haaland.

Bale has shown signs of returning to some of his best form over recent months after a difficult start to the season.

There has been plenty of speculation over the winger’s future with the Welshman stating during an interview during international duty that his plan is to return to Real Madrid in the summer.

However, both the 31-year-old and his agent Jonathan Barnett clarified the statement, explaining that he merely said what the terms of his current loan deal at Spurs stipulated.

It remains to be seen if Bale would be keen on coming back to North London next season but if AS are to be believed, Real Madrid are desperate to offload the winger because of his bumper salary.

The report explains Bale is one of the players that Los Blancos are keen to move on so that they can pursue Haaland, for whom the Spanish giants are set to face plenty of competition.

Spurs Web Opinion

Given that Madrid are desperate to get rid of Bale, I would be surprised if Levy does not try to do another loan deal for the Welshman this summer in terms that are favourable to Spurs. However, that would also likely depend on whether the 31-year-old gets enough minutes in our final league run-in and is able to maintain his good form.
