Report claims former Chelsea boss could replace Mourinho at Spurs

According to Tuttosport (as relayed by The Daily Star), Antonio Conte is a potential candidate to replace Jose Mourinho at Tottenham Hotspur, with the Italian coach said to be in a stand-off with Inter Milan’s owners.

Multiple sources have reported recently that Mourinho runs the risk of being sacked if Tottenham do not finish in the top four this season.

It has been suggested that Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers are at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Mourinho while Massimiliano Allegri and Diego Simione have also been mooted as potential candidates for the job.

Tuttosport now reveal that Conte could be set for a return to the Premier League if he leaves Inter in the summer, with Spurs and Manchester United named as possible destinations for the 51-year-old.

Despite the Nerrazuri being on course to win their first title in over a decade, the report claims that the former Chelsea boss could leave the San Siro in the summer if the club cannot guarantee new signings.

If Conte does become available and Spurs decide to part ways with Mourinho, then one would imagine that the Italian will be pretty high up on the North Londoners’ wishlist. The experience he has will likely make him a more appealing candidate than Nagelsmann, who would be a riskier choice.
