Report claims ‘half the Premier League’ want rumoured Tottenham target

According to a report in Gazzetta dello Sport (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur could face competition from a nunmber Premier League clubs in rumoured their pursuit of Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard, who arrived at Sampdoria a year ago, has established himself as an important part of Claudio Ranieri’s side this season and his performance have seen clubs around Europe stand up and take notice.

Spurs were first linked with the 20-year-old during the January transfer window, with Club Doria reporting the North Londoners were the front-runners for the winger’s signature.

La Repubblica reported a few days ago that Spurs and Juventus had asked information about signing the Danish international and that both clubs were ‘crazy’ about the youngster.

However, if Gazzetta Dello Sport are to be believed, Tottenham’s pursuit of Damsgaard will be anything but straight forward, with report claiming that half the clubs in the Premier League are interested in the Sampdoria star.

Although the Serie A side are in no rush to sell the wide man, it is said that it is clear he will move on to bigger and better things in the near future.

Hobjerg will know well of Damsgaard’s qualities, having been involved with the winger for the national team. I would not be surprised if Spurs had consulted the midfielder about the 20-year-old’s talent. Perhaps, Hojbjerg could hold the key in convincing the youngster to choose Spurs over other potential suitors.
